About Lauren
As a licensed Social Worker, I specialize in helping individuals, both adolescents and adults, navigate the challenges of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), specific phobias, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and panic disorder. Additionally, I work to understand comorbid diagnoses and other variables that might impact an individual’s OCD and anxiety symptoms and overall presentation.
My approach is warm and collaborative, and I place a strong emphasis on mindfulness and self-compassion. I believe in a holistic approach that addresses not just symptoms, but the whole person. My background in speech-language pathology also allows me to conceptualize cases in a more holistic way. Additionally, I value open communication, so I encourage feedback throughout our work together to ensure that we are on the right path.
I am passionate about this work because I truly believe that with the right tools and support, everyone has the ability to live a value-based life. I love seeing my clients develop a better understanding of their strengths and learn to live with uncertainty. It is amazing to me how much bigger the world can seem when we are not constrained by our fears.
I obtained my Bachelors degree in English from the University of Rochester, a Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Iowa, and a second Masters in Social Work from Salem State University. While earning my Masters in Social Work, I worked as a counselor at the OCD Institute at McLean Hospital, associated with Harvard Medical School. I have worked in a variety of different settings and practices as both a Social Worker and Speech Therapist.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my dog, Kugel; reading; going to barre classes, and dancing.
